On the last day of June this year, the Tabernacle of Worship joyously celebrated Family Day and Parents’ Day, dedicated to honoring parents and strengthening bonds among families in our church community. This event provided a wonderful opportunity for fellowship, fun, and spiritual growth, bringing together members of all ages in a spirit of unity and love.
Activities and Highlights:
The morning commenced with the singing of our National and State anthems. Pastor David gave a heartwarming welcome message titled “A New Beginning,” where he explained the symbolism behind giving everyone a young plant as a door gift. Just as we nurture and care for a young plant, we, as church members, are to nurture and care for one another.
Pastor Thomas then led us in a gel/ice breaker game where we sang a Christmas carol according to our birthday month, as listed on a projected screen. This activity helped us find our groups, where we introduced ourselves and learned about each other’s favorite foods, hobbies, and dream destinations.
We then entered into a time of worship, singing praises to our God.
Various activities were organized to cater to different interests and age groups. Families engaged in friendly competitions and team-building activities, such as folding paper airplanes with one hand with the help of a partner and flying them to see which group could achieve the furthest distance. This game not only promoted physical activity but also encouraged teamwork and laughter among participants. In the end, everyone was a winner.
A delicious buffet lunch was provided, offering the perfect opportunity for families to relax and enjoy each other’s company over a meal, creating cherished memories around the table.
In addition to strengthening familial bonds, Family Day and Parents’ Day created an opportunity for many of us to invite other family members and friends who are non-Christians.
The success of Family Day and Parents’ Day at the Tabernacle of Worship was a testament to the strong sense of community and unity among our members. Through fellowship, fun activities, and spiritual enrichment, this event not only strengthened family ties but also deepened our connection to our faith and one another. As we look forward to future gatherings, we are filled with gratitude for the blessings of family and community that enrich our lives each day.
